Coudersport, PA–The sound of motorcycles echoed through downtown Coudersport Tuesday afternoon as approximately 40 motorcycles and support vehicles rolled through town in support of wounded veterans participating in Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping disabled active-duty military personnel and veterans through the therapeutic benefits of fly fishing.

The motorcade traveled along Main Street on Route 6 before making its way to UPMC Cole, where hospital staff lined the parking lot waving American flags and cheering as the veterans arrived. The procession later continued to the local American Legion before participants headed to their fly fishing destination.

According to the organization, Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing is a “unique, community-based not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the physical and psychological rehabilitation of active duty military personnel and veterans with disabilities through the therapeutic benefits of fly fishing.”

Community members gathered along the streets of Coudersport to show support as the riders passed through town. Among them were local Army veterans Tammy Gee and John, who said they came out specifically to support fellow veterans. Tammy explained that military service runs deep in her family and noted that she continues serving in the Army Reserves after first joining the military in 1990. Tammy will be in the service until 2032.

Another local resident, Pam Sprouse, shared her appreciation for both the organization and the veterans being honored during the event.

“I’m so proud of the people who support [the veterans], and I’m so proud of the people who gave their lives, and the ones who continue to struggle through [PTSD],” she said. “We just pray for that.”

At UPMC Cole, hospital employees and supporters stood together in a visible show of gratitude for the veterans participating in the ride. Sarah Buholtz, a local resident attending the event, said the gathering was about “honoring the veterans and thanking them for all of their service to us for our country.”

The event brought together veterans, medical professionals, volunteers, bikers, and community members in a united effort to recognize the sacrifices made by America’s service members. As flags waved and motorcycle engines rumbled through town, the afternoon served as both a celebration of service and a reminder of the support available to veterans through organizations like Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing.
