At two o’clock on a summer afternoon, The Wonder Bar in Galeton wasn’t exactly buzzing.
Country music drifted through the speakers while a handful of men in camouflage jackets and well-worn flannel shirts leaned against the bar, swapping stories over cold drinks. The room had the easy rhythm of a small-town afternoon—until two women in business attire walked through the front door.
Every head turned.
Kim laughed.
“I guess we’re not exactly dressed for the crowd,” she joked as we settled into a quiet corner of the dining room.
An hour later, those same men were still at the bar, and our conversation—equal parts interview, storytelling session and girls’ afternoon out—had become punctuated by bursts of laughter loud enough to echo through the restaurant.
As we stood to leave, one of the men grinned and called across the room that he had been “just about ready to come back and tell you ladies to settle down.”
We laughed even harder.
Honestly, it was the perfect ending to one of the most enjoyable interviews I’ve had in years.
Because that’s what spending time with Kim is like.
Within minutes of meeting her, it’s easy to understand why women invite her into their homes, recommend her to their friends, and continue calling her years later. She’s warm without being overbearing, funny without trying too hard, and possesses the rare ability to make even the most awkward conversations feel perfectly normal.
“I bring the party,” she told me. “I bring the stuff that’s going to help you feel pretty, help you get in the right headspace, and help you feel confident.”
That philosophy has guided her career for more than fifteen years.
Many people around the region first knew Kim through Pure Romance, where she built a successful business hosting in-home parties focused on women’s wellness and intimacy. But when the company changed its business model and eventually ended its consultant program, Kim suddenly found herself facing a decision.
“I had an established client base,” she recalled. “This was my full-time gig. I thought, ‘What am I going to do now? I’m not going back to working in a dentist’s office.'”
Instead, she built something of her own.
Today, The Kim Show is exactly that—her own business, her own brand and her own vision.
Rather than selling only one company’s products, she now hand-selects everything she offers.
“I’m so excited,” she said, smiling as she talked about an upcoming buying trip to Nashville. “Now I get to curate my own product line. I can feel the products, compare them, and decide what’s actually going to work for my clientele.”
That excitement is contagious.
But throughout our conversation, something became clear: Kim isn’t really selling products.
She’s selling confidence.

She told me one of her favorite stories from an early party.
“A woman looked at me and said, ‘You’re the sex toy lady?'”
Kim laughed.
“Then she looked me up and down and said, ‘You’re not at all what I expected. You look like a teacher.'”
Kim’s response still makes her smile.
“‘I am a teacher,’ I told her. ‘I’m a sex educator.'”
It may have been the most honest description of her job all afternoon.
For the next hour, our conversation wandered naturally from business to relationships, from confidence to communication, and from laughter to surprisingly heartfelt discussions about aging, menopause, and the realities so many women quietly experience but rarely talk about.
We compared notes on hot flashes.
Mood swings.
Dry skin.
The emotional roller coaster of hormones.
“I cried every day for a week,” Kim admitted, remembering her own experience with menopause. “I’m not a crier. My neighbor finally said, ‘Get yourself to the doctor.'”
I couldn’t help but laugh in recognition.
I confessed that I had reached the point where my family probably deserved hazard pay.
“My poor kids were scared of me,” I admitted. “I wasn’t expecting any of it.”
We laughed because we recognized ourselves in each other’s stories.
Those moments may have been my favorite part of the afternoon.
Kim believes women simply aren’t given enough honest information about their own bodies.
“We learn about reproduction,” she said. “We learn about disease. But nobody teaches us about pleasure. Nobody teaches us how to enjoy our own bodies.”
She doesn’t see her work as something scandalous.
She sees it as education.
“It’s okay to keep things private,” she said thoughtfully. “But there’s a difference between being private and neglecting yourself.”
That philosophy carries through every party she hosts.
Yes, there are laughs.
Plenty of them.
There are products.
Questions.
Curiosity.
But mostly, Kim creates an atmosphere where women realize they’re not the only ones asking those questions.
By the end of the afternoon, it was obvious why so many of her customers become lifelong friends.
She listens more than she talks.
She never judges.
She has a knack for turning embarrassment into laughter and awkwardness into conversation.
And somewhere between the country music playing in the background, the hunters laughing at the bar, and two women who had completely lost track of time, I realized this interview had become about something much bigger than a business profile.
It was about connection.
About friendship.
About the freedom that comes from realizing you’re allowed to laugh about life—even the parts that people tell you are too embarrassing to discuss.
As we walked out the door, still laughing, I found myself thinking that perhaps Kim had summed up her work better than anyone else could.
“I bring the party!”
After spending an afternoon with her, I’d add just one more thing.
She brings the comfort that makes the laughter possible, too.
