The board approved the purchase of new digital handheld radios and charging equipment totaling approximately $14,000, aimed at improving officer communication and security. Board members emphasized the importance of modernizing equipment, with potential future plans to upgrade the entire radio system to a digital, encrypted platform.
A significant personnel transition was also discussed, with the current medical billing professional preparing to step down after nine years of service. The individual, who recently graduated as a nurse practitioner, will be transitioning out of her current role by mid-December and will be training her replacement.
The meeting also highlighted the jail’s ongoing efforts to support inmate rehabilitation. Current leadership discussed various programs, including Transformational Living services and strategies for helping inmates successfully reintegrate into the community after release.
Inmate population reports showed 31 total inmates, with 30 serving time and one on weekend detention. The board reviewed detailed medical billing reports, noting cost-saving measures and medication management strategies.
